05/11/1993 Sopilal is from a very poor drought-prone area. At the time she received a scholarship, her family had only one cow and no goats. She has three brothers and two sisters, but only the brothers are allowed to go to school. One sister was married off at the age of 14. The younger sister is still too young to be married.
