Motet Lesaan

Motet's mother died giving birth when Motet was a year and a half old.  Her father had two other wives who also died.  Motet lived with her grandmother, since there were 11 children for her father to support.

Namiyio Leshin

Namiyio's family lives in extreme poverty, with no goats or cows.  They depend solely on their relatives and neighbors for survival.  During her first three years in school, Namiyio suffered from seizures, which were treated by a pediatric neurologist in Nairobi.  After three years of medications, provided by MGEF, Namiyio's seizures ceased, and she is now a very healthy little girl.

Nancy Komeyian Lesiyo

In 2002, Nancy's father chased her mother away and left the children without supervision.  Her grandmother was too old to care for them. Nancy, who was then 13 years old, was forced to stay at home to care for the family's livestock.  Her father did not want her in school.

Ruth Nampa Losurum

Ruth Nampa's education would have ended after 9th grade without financial assistance.  Her father died when she was a year old, leaving two wives and 11 children.  Her mother never enrolled in school, and her family's survival depended on her paternal grandparents, who had planned to have her married off.  But she was a very bright student, and an MGEF scholarship saved her.  She graduated from secondary school in November 2008 with a B+ on the national test, and plans to go to college.

Margret Nbibioto Makum

Margret's father died when she was 10 years old, leaving two wives and 11 children.  The two wives supported the children by making and selling charcoal in the local market, and looking after other families' livestock.  But they could not afford school fees.  All of the children dropped out of school.  Margret is also hearing impaired, but manages to maintain and A/B average at school.
