Today, MGEF recognizes #EarthDay by celebrating Abigael, an MGEF student who received a full scholarship from EARTH University to study Agricultural Science in Costa Rica! She has expressed her dedication to giving back to her community and has shared a desire to begin a sustainable beautification project. We are excited to see how her education enables her to focus on sustainable solutions, and we couldn't be more proud of her!

Last Sunday, a 13 year old Kajiado girl died as a result of an FGM operation. This is a tragedy which could have been prevented if her parents and community understood the dangers associated with these operations. MGEF is committed to ending FGM and other harmful cultural practices by educating communities and helping them move toward more positive rites of passage.

We would love to hear what you think about this. If you have thoughts or comments, share them with us below!

Last week, we were fortunate to attend the Global Education 2015 Countdown Summit organized by the UN Special Envoy for Global Education in collaboration with A World At School, which featured UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon! It was a great opportunity for MGEF to connect with people and organizations with shared interests and a passion for #GirlsEducation! We are happy to share a helpful resource we received at the summit.

Today is #WorldHealthDay! MGEF is celebrating by recognizing our medical student, Gloria Mumeita Kotente! She aspires to be a doctor and has shown great strength, motivation, and dedication throughout her education. She has already changed lives in her community by leading mentoring workshops for our younger students and by proving to them that achieving their dreams is possible. She is such an inspiration, and we are excited to be a part of her journey!
