The mission of Girls
Learn International is to involve American girls
in the international effort for global girls' education,
to provide human rights education, foster global communication
and cross-cultural understanding, and promote education
equity. By partnering schools in the US with schools in
Kenya, students from both countries regularly communicate
and work together to advocate human rights and girls' education.
US students also fundraise for their partners schools in
Kenya. Girls Learn International is based in New York.
Based in California's Silicon
Valley, Geoseed
is a nonprofit, volunteer organization that collects back
issues of National Geographic to distribute to schools in
the developing world as teaching aids. Their goal is to
inspire girls in developing countries to pursue their educational
interests. Through their volunteers, libraries, and associated
organizations, the Geoseed Project serves over 21,000 children
in 32 countries.
